Our SOS is sounding a five-alarm fire!

Our SOS is sounding a five-alarm fire!

We all know how important free and fair elections are, and we understandably spend a lot of our time focused on voting rights at a federal level. However, while we’re busily tearing our hair out about Manchin and Sinema, the GOP is putting all of its energy into recruiting candidates who have bought into the big lie for public offices large and small, and proposing and, in some cases, passing, laws intended to give partisan actors more direct control over our election systems.

Secretary Benson was recently quoted in a NYT’s article sounding a FIVE ALARM FIRE here in Michigan. Secretary Benson will be joining us to discuss what is happening here in Michigan and, more importantly, what we can do about it!

"This is a five-alarm fire,” said Jocelyn Benson, the Democratic secretary of state in Michigan, who presided over her state’s Trump-contested election in 2020 and may face a Trump-backed challenger next year. “If people in general, leaders and citizens, aren’t taking this as the most important issue of our time and acting accordingly, then we may not be able to ensure democracy prevails again in ’24.” https://www.nytimes.com/2021/12/11/us/politics/trust-in-elections-trump-democracy.html?searchResultPosition=6
